Beddo
Beddo – Japanese for ‘bed’ – designed by Christina Liljenberg Halstrøm, is a minimalist sofa, comprising of a low-level, thin upholstered plane with a wooden structure for a removable backrest. This is not intended as a soft and comfy sofa for couch potatoes but rather a simple resting place, which still requires some physical activity, hence addressing the fact that lack of corporal motion is one reason for an increasing number of people with back and joint pain.

Foster the People
Los Angeles based indie-pop band Foster the People has definitely got my attention with their summertime essential “Pumped Up Kicks”. Possessing a sound that embodies the beyond catchy hook creativity of MGMT and the melodiousness of Pete Bjorn and John using the whistle flawlessly throughout their composition, I would be surprised not to find that these LA natives are not on their way to blowing up just as MGMT did in the summer of 2008. It’s only a matter of time before the album drops and people begin to foster their music and show them some reciprocity. Make sure to check out their website here and join their email list for updates on what they have in store for us all in the coming months. Enjoy!

The Likas skate park test ride...
tight bowl carving
checking the scene
Quater to quater attempt
2 weeks ago, I headed down in Kota Kinabalu, I managed to search down the likas skatepark out in the sports centre, placed at some akward corner at the end of a large carpark. The park was awsome with heaps of hips and gaps and transfers, sadly all i had was my Jump bike, would have been amazing with the Bmx.....

'Teach For Malaysia' Programme To Draw Bright Graduates To Serve In Rural Areas - Bernama
KUALA LUMPUR, June 10 (Bernama) -- The government will launch a high-profile "Teach for Malaysia" programme to attract the best and brightest graduates to teach for two years at underperforming or rural schools.
According to the 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP) tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday, the measure is to increase the graduate teachers from 89.4 per cent in 2009 to 90 per cent by 2015 in secondary schools and from 28 per cent in 2009 to 60 per cent by 2015 for primary schools.
Under the programme, top graduates under corporate sponsorship will be encouraged to participate in the programme prior to returning to work with their employers.
They will enter a fast-track training programme where they will receive intensive training in the latest teaching methods.
To ensure a higher minimum quality for new teachers, guaranteed placement for teacher trainees in Institutions of Teacher Education (ITEs) and public universities will be removed.
Currently the teacher trainees are guaranteed placements in schools regardless of how they have performed.
There are currently 175,000 applicants to become teachers and every year, up to 20,000 new teachers are placed into schools.
However, many applicants do not have the right aptitude and attitude for becoming teachers, 10MP noted.
Measures to improve teacher training:
* Postgraduate teaching course will be extended from one year to one-and-a-half years
* State education departments will coordinate the practicum programme
* Experienced teachers in qualifying schools will be provided with mentoring courses to upgrade their capabilities
* The quality of the practicum training provided will be linked to the performance evaluation of the school and mentor teachers

Coal plant to be made on paradise, Sabah, Malaysia
By Jeremy Hance (mongabay.com)
A group of NGOs that oppose the coal plant, known as Green SURF (Sabah Unite to Re-power the Future), warn that the plant will come with a host of environmental problems, including discharges of chlorine and sulfates into the ocean, sulfur dioxide emissions that could cause acid rain, thermal pollution, and the need for new transmission lines, infrastructure, and cargo to carry coal from mines south in Kalimantan. Green SURF has recently conducted an energy audit that showed Sabah has the capacity to develop cost-competitive power needs from a variety of other non-fossil fuel options, including palm oil biomass, solar, and hydrological.
To voice your opinion on the coal plant visit Green SURF. There are a number of campaigns, including a post card campaign, a petition, a Facebook group, and general information onSource Watch.

PCP track report
Last weekend I tested out the putrajaya trails it seemed pretty smooth at first look but once we started riding it it felt really sluggish, sand was starting to fill it up and the dampness slowed everthing down! It was no longer fast as before hopefull the management would clear out the sand before they organise anything out there! Check Pcp out here

tendernest of fist...
Tenderfist
www.myspace.com/tenderfist
Tenderfist is certainly a name that has been in the spotlight in the past month or so. Not only did they open for Kings of Convenience’s gig recently, the latter also opened for Tenderfist at Cloth & Clef a night before the concert. With a name picked from a typeface mag when they formed in 2006, Tenderfist had other choices for band names that included Trotsky Fudge (catchy!). Aged between 21-31, the band comprises of Nazri on sampler and synths, Faiz on keyboards and analogue sequencers, and Edzwan on vocals and guitar. Tenderfist often cites New Order as inspiration but they are also inspired by Jens Lenkman, The Radio Dept, some interview footage of Ol’ Dirty Ba$tard and “the wide shot thing Wes Anderson does in all his movies”. For now, you will be able to hear their old songs and demos on MySpace as they are in the middle of recording an independently released effort. They’ve had a lot of memories so far, from opening for Killeur Calculateur and Stoned Revivals at Disko Papan 2 to playing at Urbanscapes 2009, where their equipment nearly melted in the hot sun. In the future, they hope to play gigs outside of KL or Malaysia and have a blast doing it. With the underrated talent they possess, we at JUICE fully support Tenderfist all the way!

Dirt magazine's Iphone/Ipad app
So, with the recent launch of the Ipad, Dirt Mountain Bike magazine and Ride Bmx (UK) have recently launched their Iphone/Ipad app which I recently downloaded and had a play around today on my phone.
Pros: Access online magazines with ease anywhere you are especially your on commute or waiting in on your dentist appointment!
Cons: Images are way too small for my liking on the iphone but I can imagine it being such a treat to read on the ipad, Also its not free, a monthly subscription will cost you $11.99 per annum and $2.99 per issue.
Over all, Its great fun for a play around but, It does not beat the real deal.
